REQUIREMENTS : An NQF stage two or equal qualification. The disclosure of a legitimate unexpired driver’s license will serve as an introduced advantage. A greater qualification will serve as an brought advantage. Good verbal, writing and analyzing skills. Basic expertise in controlling and managing the water distribution for all Government water works. Basic appreciation in occupational Health and safety. Basic understanding of flood control. Basic appreciation of file keeping.
DUTIES : Opening and closing of sluices in accordance to scheme regulations. Handling the water distribution sheet in accordance to scheme regulations. Perform minor preservation on structures, fencing and sluices. Assist with opening of blocked pipes and canals. Remove of algae and water grass in canals regularly. Conduct every day inspections on section. Report holes on embankments and any irregularly on canals to Water Control Officer. Look for cracks in measuring constructions and file defects. Stagnant water on the embankments have to be reported. Painting of sluices and lengthy weir sluices. Ensure that sluice numbers are actually marked. Keep canal grids clean. Keep gauge plates clean. Keep constructions smooth and their surroundings. Keep inlet gap to measuring container continually open. Clean and lock usually the put up boxes. Repair minor wash outs. Repair tools when necessary. Keep equipment’s protected and lock the storeroom always.
